She's been a model, a television actress and a film star. But we know her only as Deepshikha."My surname is Nagpal . My dad's a Punjabi, but I'm more of a Gujarati as my mother is one," exclaims the popular actor model .
Deepshikha began her career as a model. She says: "We had a conservative upbringing . I even used to wear only salwar kameez to college. But once when a model dropped out of a college fashion show, I had to fill in for her at the last minute. That's how modelling happened."
Modelling might have been a "chance" thing, but a career in the field of glamour wasn't entirely unthinkable for Deepshikha. While her maternal grandfather, Vithaldas Panchotia, gave a break to the likes of Ashok Kumar and Mehmood, her uncle was a cameraman , and her mother, an actress in Gujarati films. In addition, her father was a director in Hindi, Gujarati and Bhojpuri films. "I consider Gujarati my mother tongue. I've even done close to 10 Gujarati films. Interestingly, Naresh Kanodia, who often played the male lead alongside my mother, has also starred opposite me," says Deepshikha, who's now a mother herself.
However films apart, it's television where Deepshikha really carved a name for herself. She's been a part of various successful serials such as Abhimaan, Son Pari, Kittie Party among others.

But television, she tells us, "is good yet hectic." "Frankly, I enjoy all mediums. I've even done plays and stage shows. After all, doing different things give you a creative high. But I really don't see myself doing saasbahu soaps," she says.
Ask her why, and pat comes the reply: "I can't shoot for 30 days in a month. I need my space." She goes on to add, "But films are welcome for now. I'm doing a Hindi as well as a Bhojpuri film. And I've done a cameo in the upcoming Salman-Govinda starrer Partner."
So, what's next? "Oh, I never plan my life. I love all aspects of my work anyway," she signs off.
